Draco vs. Saphira 2 by Strecno Draco vs. Saphira 2 by Strecno
Edit: I have nothing against the Inheritance books. If you like them, that's alright (but It’s not my cup of tea). Saphira is just a symbol in this picture here (as well as Draco). It isn’t about the story or the character! It’s about the people behind the MOVIE!!

I’m sick of it….. to explain it again and again. Please have your point of view, that’s alright, but don’t try to teach me!

There are many dragons that I don’t like (Taballuga, the one from Shrek, the Dragonfighters dragons....) and I don’t like Saphira ( I read the books -yes, all four- and I don’t like her character and the reason that she –and all other dragons- only exists for Eragon/their riders…they don’t have a own life or rather they are attached by the hip)!! But that is not the reason why I draw this picture! The reason is that the producers from the movie have used so much from DH (And NO, I don't speak about movie Saphira's design or something! I speak about artwork, locations, workings and stuff like that). And they praise themselves and speak disdainfully about older dragon films….and about, how bad the animation in DH is, but in fact, I can’t see a difference between it. (well, everybody has a own opinion about that)

In my pic here is only ONE example of stealing. The two Dragon logos above them are both official promotional artwork, and as you maybe can see, the designers from the Eragon movie took that logo from Dragonheart and altered it ….oh boy, that’s really crummy IMO (even IF the alteration was made by the same designer)

The "original" and "copy" refers to the logos NOT the design of the dragons!!

You don’t have to understand my causes…

Done with color pencils and later finish it at the computer, 2006

I'm not particularly fond of either the book or the movie, but truly the film was a complete mess, and yes indeed, I can see everything they took from Dragonhearth, but I never knew about the producers speaking bad about DH "The irony", is this seen in behind the sciences, interviews or something, I'd really like to know.

You are entitled to your opinion, I love Dragonheart. It really brought the soul into dragon movies, proving that not all dragons are evil and making you feel for Draco through the whole movie. I really enjoyed the movie and it's one of my top favorites.

Eragon was too description heavy, maybe it's just me but I get bored with too much information. And it's not fair that the dragons are always at their rider's bekon-call, I mean in the book she had a few more rebellious moments but still she felt too much like her and Eragon were attached by the hip. And if you're gonna have a dragon that can speak they should be treated as a regular character, not and accessory. In the movie she had like two moments of true savage rage, but it was so few and far between.

Draco had a personality outside the bond he and Bowen had, he could be a smart-ass and had opinions about everything. He didn't have to be right beside Bowen at all times and taunted and teased him constantly that it just felt so real.

I still like Eragon for what it is, just that I understand it's flails and it's far from perfect. To be honest pretty much anything with dragons I'll most likely be into.

So don't feel like you have to answer to people who hate on you, you are you and no one can change that. The drawing is amazing and keep on doing what your doing, you deserve to be happy and have opinions.

Thank you so much for your nice comment :)

I often don’t find the right words if I want to explain something, but you illustrated the Eragon-Saphira and Draco-Bowen relationship exactly in the way I see it too.  C:

I am a dummy! Time to be that one guy who actually comments on the art!

Some excellent work with colored pencils, I gotta' say. Everything is so clean and very well drawn, too. Expressions are fantastic! XD 'Saphira' looks like she just doesn't know what's goin' on and Draco's smugness is hilarious. I think Saphira's pretty cool in the books and Draco is awesome - that second bit wasn't an opinion, but a fact. XD - and I like both stories, too. NOT the movie of Eragon, though. The books. They were pretty good for a short fantasy series. Annnnywho... Ha. Would'ya' look at that? It seems I've been ensnared by the endless war of opinions, too. XD Guess I'm to be thrown in with that rabble below, eh? Eh. Oh well.

Now I'm just left wondering - not associating the symbolism, but the idea of dragon battles - who'd win in a fight; Shiron the Windragon or Draco? And Shiron would have to be as Kanerudo or Windmaker, of course. Draco would easily kick his butt otherwise. XD

Anywho, I've rambled my opinions like so many before me, but, seriously, that's some great coloring. Such detail is wondrous. ^^

I found another thing both of their voices share! They had been in adaptations of John Le Carre books: Sean in "The Russia House" and Rachel in "The Constant Gardener" aside from having their Best Supporting Oscars!

huh I never noticed before but yeah that looks very much like Draco. Did they really put down Dragon Hearts animation? That's so sad, That animation was freaking amazing!

I wasn't overly fond of the Saphira's feathery look in the movie. To be honest the movie could have been so much better. I have no idea if the Dragon Heart Book I own was made before or after the Movie but It has everything the movie had plus a bit extra. I love it!

hahaha good picture and funny! :D (Big Grin) Clap Love
I agree with this - Draco can have Saphira from the movie for his dinner...no, I said it wrongly.. maybe like a little snack :D (Big Grin)

I think Draco is the only dragon from every movie, who is the best! But...maybe before Smaug come from The Hobbit... he is cool too! His moving is like a pretty big lizzard, but Draco will be The First one forever!  And I love his voice in our languageLlama Emoji-03 (Sparkles) [V1]  I cry every time when I saw Dragonheart, but when I´m seeing Eragon, I´m laughingSHOCK-ANIMATED =P (Razz) Popcorn 2 (Meme)

Look I want to be clear. I am a huge Eragon fan and I know that the movie has nothing to do with the books and that it sucked. If this is about the movies I totally agree with you.Although I haven't seen dragonheart yet I think that everyone would beat MOVIE Saphira.I think that the BOOK Sapphira is totally cool and powerful. I love her and she is one of my fav characters but that's MY opinion and I don't say that you are stupid or something because yours is different than mines.

I know right the movie saphira gets bitten by some kinda non existent shade dragon thing and nearly dies whereas the book saphira gets stabbed by the dautheart and fights a leatherblaka and it's practically a flesh wound.

I don’t hate the Eragon books! READ before you comment!!! First off, I made these pictures by the end of 2006 and they took me not more than a few hours if that means “most of my time” to you, alright, but I won’t have your comprehension of time. Second off, I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I just have the right to say my opinion, if you like it or not! :sarcasm: Pity! Now, it seems your knowledge of human nature has misled you. hahahah No, I don’t read something like Age of Fire.

I hate how people seem to think that because we're in an era where computer generated animation is superior to most of the previous movies made with it back in the past that it would be better than all previous movies. This is not fact. Some older movies made with these older graphics are actually better than most new age graphics. It seems to me that these days, the graphics are devolving really, but that's my opinion. And at least in the old days, they actually cared about the original story. These days, they try to make their own spin on things in the story to change it up and it turns out terrible. Some things I have seen in recent years have just been an eyesore. Didn't really like Eragon either, but I can't say that I don't like Sephira's design. She has some gorgeous wings, and a sleek look. But Draco is by all means superior. Watched it with my father as a child. Ah, good times....good times...

im starting to get bored of the hating of other things disliking and all that...i wish people to understand the world...

i may misunderstand this anyway, but the more i see this and read the description the more i feel ofended by these actions...movies are just movies,we hate them, its normal but taunt or mock them...is quite a deal...i don't say you and others to love it,that will never happen.

as for how they act,let them be,if the copied something leave them...don't feed a useless hatred or negativity towards something...i have to suport many...things.i prefer neutrality for this kind of things...people fighting for foolish reasons...and i will write my dislikements, since im bored of seeing people draw hate things.

first, why people do this,it is pointless and...um kind of stupid...but who im are to it...im to stupid and a fool,(hitinh myself in walls just to satisfy a stupid need of punishment of my life...bulshit to me!)...but i still stand and will write into this so people like you try to understand...if you can piece together my head.

hate only brings hate...draws like this only can bring hate betwen others.if you are going to say i would have watched this don't even take the pleasure of it my dear human...i have to post this so some people of both bands understand the things...this is maybe just a draw, but my dear child...one image can take more than a thousand words.
be carefull of the intend of your draw my dear, other shall misunderstand it.

AS FOR THE HATERS OF EACH OTHERS STORYS.

STOPD THIS FOOLISH THINGS.

im tired of seeing hatred, may this words be deleted, pulled as spam,reported...even called ofensive.BUT NO,IM NOT REGRETING WHAT IM WRITING.you guys and girls have to pull negative emotions away, and more than disgust, understand things, see them both negative and positive...yeah i know you all can't keep a neutrtal thing, humans aren't for it...but why feed this hatred between other, why waste a time dealing with negative emotions, ask yourself...why hate and offend something?...yeah may these words sound stupid and incoherent...im just 15.and i have to say this world may be bad for many and good for others but for me...is life, may i hame my own race, but at least....diferent from you guys,I TRY TO UNDERSTAND AND DON'T JUDGE OTHERS BY SOMETHING SIMPLE...is not easy as my life and world was never something easy, you know it true...nothing is easy.but at least try to do it.
what cause many ancient civilizations and tribes people to die before they would,misunderstanding...wars and all that.
i dare you people to talk to me in ofensive ways.i dare you to show how our race is,hating and other things, but to too prove me im not the only one who tries to stop such things.
it is sad this will be ignored forever...since people don't read, they jump usually to judge and hate...
it is sad to knowledge many people will jump and say many negative things,im just disaponted, thought is normal, don't jump and talk to me like a child, thing wisely what you say, talk as a formed person would, not with simple words like"the kill yourself"or"why you came to watch it and waste your time here"...i came to at least pull the ones who understand this just for a simple thing...stop hurting other and figthing...it just tears you apart and others as well.

i wish i could say more but my inglish lenguage is limited since im from another country in south america...i talk spanish, and i cant talk much,my grammar, ortigrafy and caligrafy may suck,im not perfect, but neither you...and no one opinion is the real one,we are just partial beigns with a still changing form of be,later probably i will forget why i did this...and even now i find my words are useless to you all,and if you find this a waste of time, why then you readed it?...something made you a purspose of it and simple words are not enought to answer this question, give an argumentation and all that...i will allways be hearing you all,but don't let your feelings overcome your words, talk calm and like i have tried to do...and i will thank you all for this.
remember that im allways hearing you all...

just to clarify something here........... If a rider dies, his dragon doesn't die with him/ her, but will often times be driven mad by grief and will seek to avenge their deaths (or die trying). unless they manage to regain their composure, they will likely die of grief in the end, but this also happens in reverse if a dragon dies. the movie just messed this up though. nice drawings btw!

I actually did not know all of that about the "coincidental" similarities between that (in my opinion) hideous excuse for a movie Eragon and the flametongues' beloved classic Dragonheart. I never paid Eragon any mind after seeing it once in the theater, so I actually had no idea about that Saphira art or the producers' ill-humored remarks about older dragon films. But I see the, ah, "similarity" in the Saphira and Draco artwork now, and find myself even more appalled by the Eragon movie (which even Paolini did not like). I own all four Inheritance books (haven't read the last yet) and enjoy them, but I never considered the movie to be anything more than an utter disregard to that which supposedly sparked its creation, let alone that it could EVER be anything remotely close to a quarter of Dragonheart's profound splendor. Even as someone who does not share the same opinion of the Inheritance dragons, such blatant disrespect and plagiarism is outrageous to me. (And for the record, I would go as far as to say that the C.G. in Dragonheart still outshines the C.G.--and indeed the very design of Saphira--in Eragon, even when watched in H.D. :shakefist: )

In summary, I quite agree with your symbolic usage of Draco and Saphira. :highfive:

Nice to know that you are agree with my opinion. =P
Many people think that I try to match the Eragon and the Dragonheart story. But trying to match the story’s (no matter if the Books or the Movies) is simply stupid, because these are two COMPETELY different worlds which can’t be compared.
I have read the Inheritance books too (well the last one only halfway through), therefore I know that the Eragon movie has almost nothing to do with the books…haha  but I didn’t know that even Paolini don’t like the movie ^^

Well, Paolini didn't say outright that he disliked the movie, but during a book-signing, someone asked him if he liked the movie, and his response was, "Well, that was their interpretation of the story." Not even a smile while he said it, either; so, it was pretty obvious that his opinion of the movie fell on the negative side of the metaphorical line.

Personally, they need to redo Eragon with some of the realism of Dragonheart. Get someone who knows what their doing this time and dont rip of the superior movie...

Now, you want a dragon movie to dis, I say Dragonheart 2: A New Beginning. That movie...for me, it was worse than Eragon <.<....

The acting, the producing team, and of course, the dragons...Dragonheart was by far better. The only people from Eragon I liked where the voice of Saphira, and the well cast character of Brom.

I think they should do a remake of the movie, too. But not in the realism of Dragonheart! You know, the Inheritance story and the Dragonheart story are two COMPETELY different worlds which can’t be compared. They should do it in their own way.

well *sigh* DH: A New Beginning (I refuse to call it Dragonheart 2)....it's more than worse!!! (I don't want to waste more words about it here...)

If you would live in Germany you would even hate Saphiras voice...

The books are good (though I have noticed that they have stolen QUITE a bit of plot devices), the movie SUCKS (except for Brom's actor. Why can't I rememberhis name!?).

Dragon Heart is amazing, my favorite movie when I was little. The graphics are, like Jurassic Park, still amazing to this date.

Draco wins. Hands down. I like Saphira in the books, but Draco is voiced by Sean Connery. Dragon+Sean Connery=epic win.
